This extends to every aspect of the boat. The Harken deck gear includes port or starboard controlled Genoa Cunningham, fully adjustable genoa cars, fully adjustable genoa tweakers for both inboard and outboard sheeting and turning blocks to Harken 16 dual speed winches. Heavy duty Rope Bags with provision for winchhandles are fitted on each side of the cockpit. The mainsheet system is controlled through Harken racing blocks via a full width endless traveller system. The main Out Haul, Cunningham, solid 'air strut' boom vang controls and Topping lift are located 'on centre' forward of the main hatch. These can be adjusted by the crew whilst hiking. A reef line is fitted to the boom. The spinnaker pole is controlled by foreguy lines led aft to the cockpit and the spinnaker sheets have tweakers fitted which run through turning blocks to cam cleats beside the winches. Other deck fittings include forward hatch, main sliding hatch and cover, cockpit hatch and motor hatch, crew hiking rails, two aft mooring cleats and one anchor cleat. Into the hull is bonded a full length one piece structural grid liner which incorporates keel fixing plinth, mast base, toilet plinth, chainplate bulkheads, forward bulkhead and fixing lands for "IMS" joinery, if required. The interior finish is painted and incorporates an aluminium ladder, manual toilet and screen. The motor is not included but is specified as a Yamaha 5hp short-shaft outboard motor. An ingenious stainless steel hinged motor bracket is fitted which lifts the motor from its inboard motor well and rotates it through a storage hatch to a 'park' position on rubber pads below deck. The keel is one-piece, solid "SG" cast iron Whitbread 60 type, 'recessed flange bolted to the hull and liner with 14 monel bolts. The single point lift bracket is attached to the aft bolts immediately under the sliding hatch. The rudder is constructed of epoxy resins with a carbon rudder stock running through ertalyte bearings to a stainless steel Tiller assembly. The rig is twin spreader, swept back configuration with discontinuous rigging featuring a Fosters anodised section. The topmast backstay is adjustable from port or starboard controls forward of the helmsman and all exit fittings are Harken. A compass with tactical card is mounted on the mast. Sail it hard, sail it fast Usually sailed by a crew of five, the Farr Platu 25 can be easily handled by four sailors. All trimming adjustments can be made from the weather rail. For example, the genoa turning blocks have been strategically placed to allow for winch adjustment from the weather rail. Similarly, all fittings are within an arm's reach of every sailing station. Gearing is light and easy to use. It is an exciting and challenging yacht to sail. Downwind, in 10 knots, the yacht planes.
